Is there a Wikipedia quote page for H.L. Mencken ? This was the best quote I've read by him.
"It is now lawful for Catholic women to avoid pregnancy by resorting to mathematics, but unlawful to resort to physics and chemistry" [1] 116.251.184.145 (talk)

Please add Mencken's military service

[edit]

This Wikipedia article lacks any mention of Mencken's military service. The article claims he favoured militarism, so without the slightest doubt Mencken must have embraced the opportunity to serve in the First World War, either for or against the Allied side. Quoting from the Wikipedia article:

He seemed to show a genuine enthusiasm for militarism but never in its American form. "War is a good thing," he wrote, "because it is honest; it admits the central fact of human nature... A nation too long at peace becomes a sort of gigantic old maid."
