Wikipedia:Requests for page protection

Page semi-protected
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:ProtectedPages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

    Temporary semi-protection: disruptive editing. Kajmer05 (talk) 14:09, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Multiple attempts by IP editors to whitewash article, remove sourced content. BubbaJoe123456 (talk) 16:50, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

User(s) blocked: 2601:14D:4000:0:0:0:0:0/37 (talk · contribs) blocked by Daniel Case. from article for a month. Daniel Case (talk) 05:54, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: This page has been repeatedly targeted by bad-faith or coordinated edits removing reliably sourced, neutral content in order to delete information concerning Karin Taylor's career or personal life. Multiple attempts have been made to restore content that complies with WP:BLP and WP:RS, including material backed by the Wallstreet Journal, Forbes, Palm Beach Post, Jupiter Magazine,CBS12, and WPTV to name a few. These edits are repeatedly deleted. The pattern appears intended to discredit or smear the subject which violates Wikipedia's core policies on living persons. I am requesting temporary protection to prevent further abuse. Since this began leading up to a legal trial I am sure the sudden interest in editing this page and deleting this page will end when the trial is over. Declined I have blocked this account on username grounds as implying intent to edit promotionally. Daniel Case (talk) 06:00, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Disruption of this page by repeatedly blocked user continued immediately after previous protection expired. silviaASH (inquire within) 07:00, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Someone keeps adding unsourced, unverifiable cast members. Kailash29792 (talk) 08:15, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

DeclinedWarn the user appropriately then report them to AIV or ANI if they continue. Same IP the last days. Lectonar (talk) 08:20, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite extended confirmed protection: Arbitration enforcement – Believe it or not this has become relevant to WP:ARBPIA due to Israeli authorities changing its colloquial name in tribute. Has received some off-site attention on twitter, if minimal, so might be worth a temp ECP enforcement even if it doesn't seem to merit indefinite. Thanks in advance!. Current requests for reduction in protection level

Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Reason: The protection is no longer necessary as there has not been any edit wars or disruptive editing for 15 years. last year, I requested that this page be unprotected and an Admin promised, but I never heard back from them which upset me a lot and made me very angry. if you don't want to unprotect it, then provide a reason why, but don't leave me hanging. 70.53.89.38 (talk) 04:10, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

For what it is worth, I find it likely other things got shoved in the admin's lap; I agree this is a case for trying unprotection. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 05:30, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
JBW, as the administrator who indefinitely semi-protected this page on 5 November 2010, would you consider unprotecting it? — Newslinger talk 05:54, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The previous unprotection request is at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Archive/2024/07 § Arash (singer). Although the request was approved, it looks like something slipped through and the article did not get unprotected. — Newslinger talk 06:10, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Reason: The calling code is missing in the page of iran and there are so many things that need to be edit on that page Please reduce the protection AstroidXD02 (talk) 07:24, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Pinging Malinaccier who upped protection to ECP about a year ago. Looking at the log history, it seems that indef autoconfirmed protection should stay at a minimum, but given the amount of the article that is unrelated to the Arab-Israeli conflict, I'm not sure WP:PIA requires this page to be protected. signed, Rosguill talk 07:35, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Current requests for edits to a protected page

Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
